AMI recognizes Stricklen for industry contributions

Applied Market Information, Ltd. (AMI) has named Phil Stricklen, Ph.D., director of research and development for Shaw Industries’ turf brands, the recipient of a major award.

Stricklen received the award for his contribution to the development of synthetic turf testing standards which are used throughout the industry, according to a press release.

His contributions include Synthetic Turf Task group chairman for the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). He also serves on the Sports Testing and Sports Terminology committees of the ASTM. In addition, he is a member of the Technical and Infill committees for the Synthetic Turf Council and is a member of the Turf Suppliers Committee of the NFL. Stricklen has been a featured speaker at numerous industry conferences around the world, according to Shaw Industries.

Stricklen has more than 25 years of experience in the development of new polymers, fibers and synthetic turf products. He has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas and a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Iowa State University.

AMI is a group which hosts an annual conference highlighting technical and innovative developments in the synthetic turf industry around the world.
