SYNLawn debuts artificial turf for agility training

March 26, 2015  - By

SYNLawn has released the new artificial turf surface SpeedTurf, a non-infill synthetic turf surface the company says is designed for agility exercises, CrossFit and cross-training exercises.

The turf is constructed with a low pile blended polyethylene and nylon that creates a less abrasive surface and results in less friction than products that solely use nylon. The blended turf allows weight-training objects to slide easily across its surface.

SpeedTurf has been installed at Boston University and the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. In a list of the 21 Most Innovative Gyms in the United States, SpeedTurf had been installed in one-third of of the gyms — Reebok CrossFit’s World Headquarters, Athletic Republic, Peak Performance, Mike Boyle’s flagship gym, the Institute of Human Performance and all Parisi Speed Schools.

With shock-absorbency designed to reduce impact, SpeedTurf uses a reinforced foam base layer for protection against jolts and chronic injuries caused by improper shock absorption. The fibers are easy to clean and disinfect, in turn reducing the risk of staph infections and mold growth.
