SMFA begins search for new CEO following departure of Laura Simmons
The Sports Field Management Association (SFMA) Board of Directors recently announced it has decided not to renew the contract of its CEO, Laura Simmons, MBA, CAE, effective immediately.
The move was announced via a letter to members from SFMA President Sun Roesslein, CSFM.
Simmons joined SFMA in 2023 after serving as deputy director for the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. Simmons had more than two decades of experience serving associations and in property management.
“I’ve always had immense respect for the men and women who prepare safe, enjoyable playing surfaces at all levels, be that professional and college fields or the communal spaces that serve communities of all sizes,” said Simmons after the SFMA announced her as its CEO in late 2022. “My goals are to help our members reach new heights in their profession, raise the profile of the industry and build a sustainable and bright future for SFMA.”
The SFMA Executive Board assumed Simmons’ responsibilities as the association begins a search for a new CEO.
