Eastern Michigan football stadium to install gray FieldTurf

June 25, 2014  - By

The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) department of athletics plans to install a new, “EMU gray” FieldTurf Revolution surface at Rynearson Stadium, the university’s football stadium.

“One of our workouts this winter was in six inches of snow,” says Chris Creighton, EMU’s head football coach. “Throughout the enitre workout we kept talking about [how] we will play anyone, anytime, anywhere. We will play in a parking lot, that was the mentality. So when we decided to get new turf, we said ‘let’s make it concrete gray, let’s make it a parking lot to reference the toughness and our work ethic our football team has.'”

The Factory, a nickname the team gave Rynearson Stadium, will debut its new field on August 30th when the Eagles open the 2014 season against Morgan State University.
