Project EverGreen and community partners team up to restore Corinth Community Park Athletic Field
Project EverGreen, members of the Sports Field Management Association (SFMA), the Texas Sports Field Management Association (TXSFMA), the Texas Turfgrass Association and the City of Corinth (Texas) Parks & Recreation Department teamed up on Monday, Dec. 8, 2025 at Corinth Community Park to give a well-used field a $55,000 makeover.
More than 60 sports field and landscape professionals joined forces to deliver a renovated baseball field for aspiring youth athletes and neighborhood residents. The project will transform Field No. 4, an aging but well-loved space into a safer, more functional and environmentally healthier green asset for local families, athletes and neighbors to enjoy for years to come. The project included:
- Rebuilt Infield – Precision laser grading, professional-quality clay, infield mix, and conditioners will improve playability, surface consistency, and drainage reducing the risk of injuries and creating a better experience for athletes of all ages.
- Field Survey & Layout – Laser-level survey to establish precise grades and field layout.
- Home Plate & Pitcher’s Mound Reconstruction – New regulation-grade home plate and pitching rubbers; rebuilt areas using premium clay blends.
- Infield & Base Installation – New base anchors and bases installed at 80′ and 90′; full infield regrade and resurfacing with new infield mix and conditioner.
- Turf Removal & Sod Installation – Removal of old turf and installation of fresh TifTuf Bermuda sod across 17,000 sq. ft. of turf.
- Outfield Restoration – Turf repairs, irrigation adjustments, aeration and topdressing.
- Safety & Sustainability Enhancements – Improved drainage, surface consistency, and reduced long-term maintenance needs.

The comprehensive makeover – made possible by material donations and volunteer field work – will modernize field infrastructure while enhancing long-term sustainability. Their shared expertise and commitment illustrate how cross-industry partnerships can create greener, healthier and more accessible public spaces.
“Restoring community athletic fields does more than upgrade the turf, it strengthens the fabric of a neighborhood,” said Cindy Code, executive director of Project EverGreen. “When volunteers, experts and partners come together to revitalize a space like Corinth Community Park, we’re creating places where families gather, children play and community spirit grows. This project reflects the powerful impact healthy green spaces have on both people and the planet.”
Beyond the technical enhancements, the renovation highlights the essential role of green spaces in improving public health. Lush, well-maintained turf naturally cools the environment, filters stormwater, improves air quality and provides safe places for recreation and connection, benefits that extend far beyond the baseball diamond.
