Callaway and the San Diego Padres sparked a partnership to create the nine-hole Links at Petco Park, which was open Nov. 5–9 and brought in an estimated 1,600 golfers. The St. Edward Central Catholic High School football team in Elgin, Ill., was forced to relinquish its home-field advantage Sept. 18 after a chemical mix-up destroyed its field, the Chicago Tribune reports. California park installs fields with EPDM alternative infill

The City of San Mateo, Calif., has installed a GreenFields USA synthetic turf system with an environmentally friendly infill at Los Prados Park, home to many of the city’s soccer, baseball and softball teams. The city selected GreenFields’ SlideMax XQ product along with an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) non-SBR rubber infill. SBR rubber is made of recycled car tires.
