The unofficial kickoff to the NFL season experienced an unfortunate setback August 7.

After what appears to be a paint job gone wrong, officials had to cancel the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.

The artificial turf at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, became an unsafe environment after the paint congealed and rubberized resulting in a slick playing service unfit to play on.

Yes, there were thousands of angry fans, and yes, there was even a lawsuit filed from Ohio residents against the NFL. But there were also a slew of hilarious tweets from furious — and witty — fans.

According to an NFL.com article, a source with the Pro Football Hall of Fame said the field will be replaced for next year’s Hall of Fame Game.

So as we like to say in Cleveland, there’s always next year!
