LebanonTurf VP Heegard dies at 69
David C. Heegard, vice president of sales and marketing for LebanonTurf, died on May 10 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was 69.
Heegard was the oldest of seven children, born on June 28, 1950, in Austin, Minn. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in plant and soil science. He married his high school sweetheart, JoAnn VanDenover, in 1971.
Heegard had served as a national sales manager with Lebanon prior to joining Lebanon, spent more than 20 years with the Scotts organization and served as vice president of sales and marketing for Pursell Technologies.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with family.
In a statement, Kathy Bishop, president of Lebanon Seaboard Corp., said, “It is with great sadness that I say Dave Heegard passed away on May 10, 2020. Dave was undergoing cancer treatments and was doing well, when he took a turn for the worse … We will all remember Dave for his genuine warmth and friendliness. “One only had to walk the aisles of the Golf Show with him to know how many friends Dave had developed over his professional career. We will miss his calm, laid-back manner, always interested and ready to lend a hand.”
