Penn State has named Herb Combs, CSFM, as its assistant athletic director for outdoor athletic fields.

Most recently Combs has served at Penn State’s athletic fields supervisor. With this promotion Combs will now lead the university’s grounds crew in the building, preparation and maintenance of approximately 200 acres of outdoor athletic fields, including intramural fields, according to a press release.

The Penn State graduate has never been outside of a Big Ten institution and was previously an athletic staff member at the University of Minnesota before returning to University Park, Pa., in 2006. He helped Penn State earn “Field of the Year” for Jeffrey Field, home of the Nittany Lion men’s and women’s soccer teams, and was promoted to athletic fields supervisor in 2008.
