Postal worker revives field where Tiger Stadium once stood

Mitch Albom’s Heart of Detroit segment for WDIV Detroit covers a story of a man who revived Tiger Stadium, where the Detroit Tigers played until 1999.

According to the video, four years ago a postal worker named Tom Derry came by the area where Tiger Stadium once stood to reminisce. The old baseball diamond, overgrown with weeds, inspired him to take matters into his own hands and gather friends and family to clean up the abandoned lot, ultimately creating the Navin Field Crew. The crew cleans up the area every Sunday.

“We basically brought a ball field back from the dead,” Derry says.
