Sprinturf expands access to recreation with 2025 LEAP Grant awards

Thirteen projects across the country will benefit from new funding aimed at creating safer, more inclusive play spaces, as Sprinturf unveiled its 2025 LEAP Grant recipients. The program — short for Local Empowerment through Athletics and Play — continues Sprinturf’s mission of supporting communities through quality synthetic turf installations and facility upgrades, according to the company.
This year, Sprinturf’s LEAP Grant program will distribute between $15,000 and $75,000 to each of 13 selected projects. The recipients include a mix of new field installations, turf replacements and multi-sport facility upgrades serving public schools, colleges and community organizations. These investments are designed to address growing demand for safe, durable and accessible recreation spaces, especially in underserved areas.
Sprinturf CEO Justin Reddy said the initiative is about more than just providing turf: It’s about “investing in people, in potential and in places where access to recreation and play can change lives.” The company’s approach went beyond financial support, offering expert design consultation, installation and sustainable turf removal and recycling services for replacement projects.
According to the company, the LEAP Grant program reflects broader trends in the artificial turf industry for 2025, including eco-friendly innovations and enhanced safety features. Modern turf systems now use recycled materials, multi-ply backing for durability and cooling technologies to improve playability and reduce environmental impact. For schools and communities, artificial turf can offer benefits including lower maintenance costs, reduced water usage and consistent playing surfaces that improve athlete safety.
Case studies from other districts show that switching to artificial turf can reduce injuries, cut maintenance time and allow year-round use — even after rain or snow. These factors are driving increased adoption in both educational and public settings, according to Sprinturf.
