Attendees to have a ‘field day’ with TPI at International Education Conference

TPI_Field_DayTurgrass Producers International is pulling out all the stops to make its International Education Conference in Orlando, Fla. (February 24-27, 2014) a success. In addition to having two full days of education and exhibits, there will also be a Field Day.

TPI has always known that many cool-season turfgrass producers would like to attend a Field Day, but  often can’t get away from their farms during the peak business month of July – when TPI has a Field Day in conjunction with their Summer Convention. Thanks to an arrangement with Will Nugent, owner of Bethel Farms in Sumterville, Fla., an opportunity arose.

A Field Day has been added to this year’s conference, which is an added bonus, and it certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed. The opportunity to see live equipment demonstrations from the industry’s leading equipment manufacturers of harvesters, mowers, installers, tractors, forklifts and cultivators in February has already suggested that there may be a record number of European and Australian members in attendance.

“Our members asked for more education and this year’s conference certainly responds to that request,” said TPI president, Bob Weerts. “Planned seminars and breakout sessions will feature over twenty speakers addressing a wide variety of topics. Attendees can pick and choose whatever presentations appeal to them, and because the breakout sessions will be repeated, everyone has a chance to sit in. Panel discussions are also part of the schedule and will feature leading Turfgrass Extension Specialists, Turfgrass Research Advisors and a crowd-pleasing ‘Show & Tell’ presentation from fellow turfgrass producers. It’s really going to be a great program that has something for everyone, and the fact that the host hotel is Disney’s Contemporary Resort only adds to what is sure to be a memorable event.”
