New Ground Technology introduced its patented TerraPrinter technology during the San Francisco Giants’ home opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, a news release reported.

The Giants logo, prominently displayed in centerfield, is a first for the MLB franchise and a first for New Ground Technology. The 160-foot image was produced from the GPS guided TerraPrinter and cloud-based media.

New Ground’s patterning techniques are based on traditional lawn striping. TerraPrinter’s advanced digital technology enables the creation of complex, high-definition imagery on sports fields, golf courses, hotel properties and other locations.

“This is the first time on planet earth, and on the SF Giants’ home field, that digital technology has been used to print an image by a machine on turf,” says Pete Davis, president and founder of New Ground Technology.

New Ground Technology’s TerraPrinter reproduces images from nearly any source as enlarged, high-contrast images on natural turf surfaces.
