Toro teams up with Minnesota Twins to rebuild community fields

The Toro Company and the Minnesota Twins organization collaborated through their six-year partnership to rebuild community baseball fields in the Twin Cities. Each year $20,000 is donated for the improvements — $10,000 from Toro and $10,000 from the Twins Community Fund. Misapplication destroys high school football field

The St. Edward Central Catholic High School football team in Elgin, Ill., was forced to relinquish its home-field advantage Sept. 18 after a chemical mix-up destroyed its field, the Chicago Tribune reports. California park installs fields with EPDM alternative infill

The City of San Mateo, Calif., has installed a GreenFields USA synthetic turf system with an environmentally friendly infill at Los Prados Park, home to many of the city’s soccer, baseball and softball teams. The city selected GreenFields’ SlideMax XQ product along with an ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) non-SBR rubber infill. SBR rubber is made of recycled car tires.
