Jacobsen_Cubs_ParkThe Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball team has named Jacobsen, a Textron company, the official turf equipment supplier of Cubs Park, the team’s brand-new spring training facility located in Mesa, Ariz.

Cubs Park, which cost $99 million to complete, is spread out over 140 acres and includes four practice fields, a 65,000 square-foot player development center and one stadium. Cubs Park seats a Cactus League-leading 15,000 fans.

Cubs Park’s package included two LF550 large area reel mowers, two Tri-King small area reel mowers, one ECLIPSE 322 small area reel mower, one Greens King 526A walk-behind reel mower and two Cushman by Jacobsen Turf-Truckster utility vehicles. The package also included three E-Z-GO Hauler utility vehicles.

Jonathan Knight, director of spring training facilities and fields, has used Jacobsen equipment and has developed a strong relationship with Jacobsen West sales representative Ron Proch.

“The fact that I’ve used Jacobsen equipment before coupled with the strong relationship that I’ve developed with Ron, really made this decision an easy one for me,” says Knight. “I’m comfortable and confident with Jacobsen, and the willingness that Jacobsen showed to work with our needs made what could have been a very difficult process seem like a no-brainer.”
