Dollamur and Shaw debut GymTurf 365 portable sports surface
GymTurf 365 offers an indoor alternative for outdoor sports
Dollamur Sport Surfaces has launched GymTurf 365, a new portable sports surface developed in partnership with Shaw Sports Turf.
GymTurf 365 is a portable synthetic turf surface that is placed on top of flat surfaces in buildings, such as gymnasiums, to create an indoor practice field. The product is designed to eliminate any weather or scheduling issues for baseball, football, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and softball teams, physical education classes and sports camps.
“GymTurf 365 is a game-changer for the sports industry, allowing coaches to maximize time with athletes regardless of weather or field availability challenges,” says Dave Rossi, Dollamur’s senior vice president. “Our goal in developing GymTurf 365 was to offer an indoor alternative where athletes could perform a full practice and compete at the same level as they would outdoors.”
The field takes less than 30 minutes to install, according to Dollamur. GymTurf 365 features the company’s Flexi-Connect technology, which uses built-in hook-and-loop connections to join turf rolls without additional fasteners or tape.
The low-blade tufted turf does not require infill, and players can wear short turf cleats or regular athletic footwear, Dollamur says in a news release.
“Partnering with Dollamur has led to us crafting a cutting-edge product that serves a massive need in the sports industry,” says Phil Stricklen, Ph.D., director of research and development for Shaw Sports Turf. “Teams that have the ability to practice indoor will have a definitive advantage during periods of bad weather.”
Dollamur says GymTurf 365 meets international soccer standards for artificial surfaces and provides a true bounce.
Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Dollamur has official partnerships with USA Wrestling, USA Judo, the Atlantic Coast Conference, North American Grappling Association and 12 state high school wrestling championships, among others. Dollamur supplies mats to more than 130 UFC Gyms across the U.S. and more than 300 sports events annually, including the CrossFit Games.
