Salt Lake County mayor proposes $6M athletic field renovation
KSTU reports the mayor of Salt Lake County, Jenny Wilson, seeks to replace three athletic fields in Murray, Utah, with artificial turf. The renovation would cost $6.2 million and save 2.2 million gallons of water a year.
Wilson also proposes to tear out 142 grassy parking strips at 40 different county-owned facilities, which will cost $2.2 million. Plants typically native to the area will replace the grass. This change would save 5.5 million gallons of water a year.
Wilson introduced the proposal and budget on June 7. The city council will vote later this month.
