STMA 2022 Conference to feature nine educational tracks
The Sports Turf Managers Association’s (STMA) Conference Education Committee has established nine tracks for educational sessions for the event taking place Jan. 17-20, 2022, in Savannah, Ga.
Topics to be covered at the conference will be:
- Turfgrass and Soil Management — Cultural practices such as mowing and fertility, turfgrass selection, soil health, plant and soil interactions and use of biostimulants
- Environmental and Pest Management — Health concerns regarding chemical applications, spraying efficacy, pesticide bans, public concerns with use of synthetic pesticides and weed management plans
- Professional Development — Diversity, equity and inclusion, pathways to enter the sports field industry and effective hiring techniques
- Construction — Sports field design, construction and renovation
- Baseball — Research on infield soils, infield maintenance
- Facility Management — Implementing STMA’s BMPs at facilities, monthly management plans for sports fields and common calculations needed for sports field management
- Water — Troubleshooting irrigation system electronics, wetting agents for sports field management and precision tools for water management
- Industry Development — New trends and technology available from commercial companies, remote sensor technology and research on performance testing and player safety
- Synthetic — Research on synthetic field maintenance, infield depth perfection
