STMA founder Dick Ericson dies
Dick Ericson, one of the founders of the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA), died on May 17 in Minneapolis.
Ericson was one of the four founders of STMA, and STMA’s first president from 1981-1982. He spent his career in Minnesota, first at Metropolitan Stadium and then providing field management for the Minnesota Twins. Read his obituary here.
The Dick Ericson Founders Award is given in his honor, annually to recognize a STMA member who effectively manages sports fields and their facility and exhibits the qualities of a true team leader.
The 2019 award was presented at STMA’s 2020 Conference in West Palm Beach to Allen Johnson, CSFM, Green Bay Packers.
