STMA president David Pinsonneault honored by APWA
David Pinsonneault, CSFM, CPRP, president of the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA), won the American Public Works Association (APWA) Professional Manager of the Year Award for facilities and grounds.
The award is given for “excellence, dedication and outstanding career service achievements of facilities and/or grounds management professionals in the public sector.”
Pinsonneault served as the public grounds superintendent for Lexington, Mass., from 2000 to 2011 when he was promoted to operations manager. He oversees 22 full-time employees and 600 acres of land, 75 acres of athletic fields, four cemeteries, more than 3,000 streetlights and 10,000 trees.
“STMA and APWA have been invaluable to my professional growth and career development,” Pinsonneault says. “I’m honored to be receiving this prestigious award and want to thank my colleagues for the passion and endless hours they put into serving our local community.”
Pinsonneault began as STMA President in January 2014. He received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of New Hampshire and a certificate from the Park and Recreation Maintenance Management School, co-sponsored by North Carolina State University and the National Recreation and Park Association. He is a past president of the New England STMA and has worked on its board of directors for more than 10 years.
